Position: Instructional Designer

Computer Sciences Corporation
Training Center of Excellence
Federal Sector Defense Group, Hampton, VA

Essential Functions:
Perform activities required to maintain the instructional integrity of instructional products, Research resource documentation content for use in the development of courseware to include applicable training materials , Develop lessons for Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI); Develop Lesson Plans for instructor-led training (ILT) (i.e. Instructor Guide, Student Guide, PowerPoint presentations), Redesign ILT into web-based training, Coordinate with subject matter experts for technical content accuracy, Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing review and revision of Army specific technical material, Use templates for developing instructional products, Determine courseware deficiencies related to instructional design and integrity; Coordinate with Quality Assurance section to correct deficiencies, Design and deliver presentations and/or demonstrations to internal and external clients, Apply a systematic instructional design and development model in real world settings, Apply learning theory, instructional theory, and applications of media to instructional scenarios.

Essential Knowledge:
Instructional Systems Development (ISD), Systems Approach to Training (SAT), Bloom's Taxonomy; Criterion Reference Instruction; Visual display design principles highly desirable; Information Mapping, GUI/Human Interface design principles and on-line documentation and help systems software a plus, Experience with multimedia authoring or development tool desirable, US Army or other military background preferred;

Essential Education:
Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Adult Education or related discipline preferred

Essential Skills:
Ability to work under the supervision of a Project Manager, Personal Computer; fax and Xerox machines; strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 95 or higher and Microsoft Applications i.e PowerPoint, Word, Exchange, Excel; HTML a Plus, Excellent verbal/written communication skills, Highly organized and detail oriented, Capable of working with minimal supervision, Travel required as necessary, Open to change. Interested in new technologies and instructional strategies.

Organizational "Fit" Considerations:
Three to five years experience as an instructional designer in a business setting, including experience in one or more of the following areas: Instructor-led training development; Web-based training development; classroom instruction/facilitation; video; interactive video; video teletraining; CBT, CD-ROM; multimedia, on-line documentation, help systems
